What the research has examined
Three points, with the context of each study.
- Guarana and cognitive performance. A meta-analysis of 8 placebo-controlled trials, in 328 participants, assessed the acute effect of guarana (37.5 to 500 mg, with 4.3 to 100 mg caffeine) and found an overall effect below trivial; response time improved slightly, but accuracy did not 1. In a double-blind trial with 129 healthy young adults (18–24 years), a drink with vitamins, minerals and guarana improved speed and accuracy on a visual processing task and attenuated mental fatigue over 60 minutes of testing 2.
- Bacopa and ginkgo. A network meta-analysis of 29 trials (2,107 healthy adults) compared the two plants: high doses of bacopa (≥600 mg/day) improved working memory compared with lower doses, ginkgo and placebo 3. An earlier meta-analysis of 9 trials (518 participants) linked bacopa, taken continuously for at least 12 weeks, to improvements in attention and memory tests 4.
- L-theanine. A meta-analysis of 50 trials in healthy participants found small to moderate differences in favour of combining L-theanine with caffeine on attention tasks in the first and second hours after intake 5. In a crossover trial with 20 healthy men, 200 mg of L-theanine improved visual reaction time 6.
Doses used in studies serve to describe the research, they are not instructions for intake. To go deeper, see what we know about L-theanine and guarana.
Who this collection may make sense for — and who it may not
These gummies are intended for adults. The collection makes most sense for anyone who wants a simple routine of 2 gummies a day and is looking for distinct options depending on the goal: focus and memory, energy for the day, or support during periods of greater tension. If your goal is simply to reduce tiredness, vitamin B12 contributes to normal functioning of the nervous system and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue 7; vitamin C contributes to the normal function of the immune system and to the protection of cells from oxidative stress 7.
It is not the right choice if:
- you are under 18 — the labels do not intend them for children or minors;
- you are pregnant or breastfeeding — none of the labels in this collection recommends it;
- you have a thyroid or autoimmune condition — Stress Relief Gummies are not recommended in these cases;
- you have liver disease or take medication — talk to a healthcare professional first, especially with Active Metabolism Gummies, which contain green tea;
- you are sensitive to caffeine or drink coffee throughout the day — Energy Gummies with Guarana provide 44 mg of caffeine per daily dose.
If you are looking for a single ingredient, there are dedicated collections, such as bacopa, L-theanine or lion's mane.
How to choose between the four gummies
Start with your main goal, not the number of ingredients.
- Focus, memory and attention during prolonged mental work: Focus and Concentration Gummies combine lion's mane, bacopa, ginkgo, L-theanine and citicoline. It is the most complex formulation in the collection. For context on the doses studied, see bacopa: daily dose and how citicoline works.
- Energy and alertness during the day: Energy Gummies with Guarana combine 200 mg of guarana extract (44 mg caffeine) with 200 mg of L-theanine. If you want to understand the logic of the combination, read L-theanine: daily dose.
- Periods of greater tension: Stress Relief Gummies include ashwagandha, L-theanine and GABA, and the label warns that they may cause drowsiness — if that happens, do not drive or use machines.
- Metabolism and body composition: Active Metabolism Gummies are the only ones with green tea and have their own rules of use (not on an empty stomach, do not stack with other green tea products).
If you prefer a ready-made set, the Daily Focus Gummies pack groups Stress Relief Gummies and Focus and Concentration Gummies; the Performance Pack groups gummies from the range. In either case, always check the label of the individual product.
Limitations, warnings and what not to expect
No gummy in this collection replaces a varied and balanced diet or a healthy lifestyle — this is stated on all labels. There are also no authorised health claims in the European Union for plants and botanical extracts; what exists is clinical research, with sometimes inconsistent results 7.
It is worth having realistic expectations. The meta-analysis on guarana found an overall effect below trivial on various cognitive measures, despite a slight advantage in response time 1. A trial with 36 women with breast cancer undergoing radiotherapy found no differences versus placebo in fatigue or depressive symptoms with 75 mg of guarana daily 8 — an example that not all contexts respond in the same way. A 12-week trial with a multinutrient formula containing bacopa and ginkgo, in 141 middle-aged adults, showed no significant benefit in memory or attention across the whole sample 9.
Warnings to keep in mind: all contain polyols, whose excessive consumption may have a laxative effect; Energy Gummies with Guarana contain caffeine and are not recommended for children, pregnant or breastfeeding women; Stress Relief Gummies are not recommended for people with thyroid or autoimmune conditions and may cause drowsiness; Active Metabolism Gummies should not be taken on an empty stomach or combined with other green tea products on the same day. If you have a medical condition or take medication, talk to a healthcare professional before starting.
Frequently asked questions
Can I take two gummies from this collection on the same day?
Each label states 2 gummies per day and should not be exceeded. If you are thinking of combining two products, bear in mind that some actives are repeated (for example, L-theanine and vitamin B12 appear in more than one formulation) and that Active Metabolism Gummies should not be combined with other products containing green tea on the same day. If in doubt, talk to a healthcare professional.
Do Energy Gummies with Guarana replace coffee?
They are not a direct substitute. They provide 44 mg of caffeine per daily dose (2 gummies), which is lower than a typical cup of coffee, and the label does not recommend the product for children, pregnant or breastfeeding women. If you already consume caffeine throughout the day, add up the total before deciding.
How long should I take them before assessing whether they make sense for me?
Trials with botanical extracts such as bacopa assessed periods of continuous intake of at least 12 weeks, while studies with guarana measured acute effects, in the first hour after intake. These are different contexts and do not indicate a guaranteed timeframe for you. The most practical approach is to follow the label's directions and assess calmly.
Are the gummies vegan and sugar-free?
The base is pectin, with no gelatine, and they are sweetened with maltitol instead of sugar. Even so, they contain polyols, and excessive consumption may have a laxative effect — this is stated on all labels in this collection.
Can I take them if I am pregnant, breastfeeding or taking medication?
None of the labels in this collection is recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, and Energy Gummies with Guarana are also not indicated for children. If you have a medical condition or take medication, consult a healthcare professional before starting.
