What Ingredients Are in TuttiBear Apple Cider Vinegar Gummies? - TuttiBear

TuttiBear's Appetite Control Gummies — the apple cider vinegar gummies — have apple cider vinegar as their main active ingredient (1000 mg per 2-gummy serving), alongside pomegranate juice powder (80 mg), beetroot juice powder (80 mg), vitamin B6 (1 mg), folic acid (400 µg), vitamin B12 (2.4 µg) and iodine (100 µg). The gummy base is made with maltitol, water, pectin, citric acid, sodium citrate, natural flavouring, natural colouring and carnauba wax.

This article explains what each of these ingredients is, what studies on apple cider vinegar have actually observed and where the limitations lie — so you can read the label with realistic expectations.

What ingredients are in an apple cider vinegar gummy?

A gummy supplement combines three types of components: the active ingredient (in this case, apple cider vinegar), the ingredients that give the gummy its body and texture (pectin, maltitol, water) and the components for flavour, colour and preservation (natural flavouring, natural colouring, citric acid, sodium citrate, carnauba wax). The TuttiBear formula also adds vitamins and minerals and two fruit and vegetable juice powders.

It is important to distinguish what is active from what is an excipient: pectin, maltitol and carnauba wax are not presented as having health effects — they give the gummy its consistency, sweetness and shine. Apple cider vinegar, the vitamins and the minerals are the components with nutritional interest.

Apple cider vinegar: the main ingredient

Apple cider vinegar is obtained by fermenting apples and its main compound is acetic acid. TuttiBear includes it in powder form, at 1000 mg per 2-gummy serving.

What do studies show? In a meta-analysis of 10 randomised trials with 789 adults with type 2 diabetes and/or excess weight, daily intake of apple cider vinegar for at least 4 weeks significantly reduced body weight, BMI and waist circumference, but had no significant effect on other body composition parameters 1. In another meta-analysis of 9 trials (10 study arms) in adults, apple cider vinegar consumption reduced total cholesterol, fasting glucose and HbA1c 2. A more recent meta-analysis, with 25 clinical trials (33 arms) and 1320 adults, found improvements in fasting glucose, HbA1c and total cholesterol, with no significant effects on BMI, HOMA-IR, fasting insulin, triglycerides, LDL-C and HDL-C 3.

These results relate to specific populations — adults with type 2 diabetes, excess weight or metabolic syndrome — and should not be generalised to everyone. In addition, the doses used in the trials vary and do not constitute dosing instructions. The TuttiBear label dose is 1000 mg per 2-gummy serving.

Pomegranate juice powder and beetroot juice powder

These two ingredients appear in the formula in equal amounts: 80 mg of each, per 2-gummy serving. They are powders obtained from concentrated juice, used mainly for their flavour and natural colour characteristics.

In the available summaries, there are no studies that have assessed these powders in isolation at the doses present in the gummy. It is therefore not possible to state that they produce specific health effects in this formulation. What can be said is that they form part of the product's composition, as indicated on the label.

Vitamins and minerals: what they do and in what amounts

The formula includes four micronutrients with recognised functions. Vitamin B6, folic acid and vitamin B12 contribute to normal energy-yielding metabolism and to the normal functioning of the nervous system; folic acid also contributes to normal blood cell formation; iodine contributes to the normal functioning of the thyroid and to normal energy-yielding metabolism 4.

These are the claims authorised by European legislation for these nutrients. They do not mean that the product treats or prevents any disease, nor that it produces visible effects in anyone who already has a balanced diet.

It is worth noting that vitamin B12 is a nutrient whose intake and nutritional status tend to be lower in people who follow plant-based diets. If that is your case, it may be useful to check your levels with a health professional.

Comparison: what is in each serving

Pomegranate juice powder80 mg—
Beetroot juice powder80 mg—
Vitamin B61 mg71%

Vitamin B122.4 µg96%
Iodine100 µg67%

The NRV values indicate the percentage of the reference intake for adults. The amount of folic acid per serving (400 µg) may be relevant for women of childbearing age, since folic acid supplementation before conception and in the first trimester is associated with a reduced risk of neural tube defects 5. However, supplementation at this stage should be guided by a health professional.

How to take them and what the label says

The directions indicated by TuttiBear are: adults, chew 2 gummies per day, preferably after a meal. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.

The label warnings include: food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle; keep out of reach of young children; contains polyols, and excessive consumption may have a laxative effect; in case of pregnancy, breastfeeding, illness or taking medication, consult a health professional before consuming.

The label also states that the product contains polyols (maltitol) and that excessive consumption may have a laxative effect. If you have a diagnosed health condition, take medication or are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to a health professional before starting any supplement.

Gummies or liquid vinegar: what changes?

In the available summaries, there are no studies that directly compare gummies with liquid apple cider vinegar. It is therefore not possible to state that one form is equivalent or superior to the other.

What is known is that gummies offer a fixed, standardised dose per serving, do not have the sour taste of liquid vinegar and do not expose tooth enamel to acetic acid in the same way as the liquid form. On the other hand, liquid vinegar can be diluted in water and the amount adjusted, but it is harder to carry and to consume consistently.

The choice depends mainly on your preference and on how easy it is to maintain a daily routine. You can read more about this comparison in apple cider vinegar vs. gummies.

Limitations and what the evidence does not show

It is important to have realistic expectations. Studies on apple cider vinegar were carried out in specific populations (adults with type 2 diabetes, excess weight or metabolic syndrome) and with durations ranging from 4 to 12 weeks. There is no guarantee that the same effects will occur in healthy adults or with other goals.

In addition, most trials used liquid apple cider vinegar, not gummies. The dose of 1000 mg per 2-gummy serving is an amount defined by the manufacturer and does not necessarily correspond to the doses used in studies.

Finally, no supplement replaces a varied and balanced diet. If you have a diagnosed health condition, take medication or are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to a health professional before starting any supplement.

Frequently asked questions

TuttiBear apple cider vinegar gummies are made with pectin, which makes them suitable for vegetarian and vegan diets. They contain natural flavourings and colourings and do not include gelatine. Maltitol is a polyol used as a sweetener; excessive consumption may have a laxative effect, as indicated on the label.

What are the active ingredients in TuttiBear apple cider vinegar gummies?

The active ingredients are apple cider vinegar (1000 mg per 2 gummies), pomegranate juice powder (80 mg), beetroot juice powder (80 mg), vitamin B6 (1 mg), folic acid (400 µg), vitamin B12 (2.4 µg) and iodine (100 µg). The gummy base includes maltitol, water, pectin, citric acid, sodium citrate, natural flavouring, natural colouring and carnauba wax.

Are apple cider vinegar gummies vegan?

Yes. The gummy texture is obtained with pectin, a fruit fibre, instead of animal-derived gelatine. The product is therefore suitable for vegetarian and vegan diets.

How many gummies should I take per day?

The directions on the label are to chew 2 gummies per day, preferably after a meal, for adults. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. The doses used in studies are not dosing instructions.

Do apple cider vinegar gummies have the same effects as the liquid?

There are no studies directly comparing the two forms. The available trials used mainly liquid vinegar, in specific populations such as adults with type 2 diabetes or excess weight. Gummies offer a fixed, standardised dose and avoid the sour taste, but equivalence of effects cannot be stated.

Can children take these gummies?

The product is intended for adults. The label states that it should be kept out of reach of young children and that, if in doubt about use in children, a health professional should be consulted. Never give children doses without professional guidance.

What should I do if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

The label states that in case of pregnancy, breastfeeding, illness or taking medication, you should consult a health professional before consuming. Supplementation with folic acid and other nutrients at this stage should be guided by a professional.
