If you're wondering when to take your beauty gummies, the short answer is: there is no magic hour. No study shows that collagen, biotin or hyaluronic acid work better in the morning or at night. What decides whether you notice anything is taking them every day, for weeks or months, and choosing a time you can stick to.

That said, there are practical decisions that make a difference: taking them with or without food, separating them from other supplements, looking after your teeth if you choose the evening, and chewing the gummies properly. That is what this article covers — along with what the evidence actually shows.

Morning or evening: is there any real difference?

In practice, the difference is minimal. The nutrients in beauty gummies don't have an internal clock: they are absorbed and used throughout the day, and your body doesn't distinguish whether you took them at 8am or 9pm. What matters is that levels stay steady over time, not the exact time of the dose.

There are, even so, practical reasons to prefer one time. In the morning, linking the dose to breakfast makes it easier not to forget. In the evening, it works well for anyone who already takes other supplements at that time, or who prefers not to mix sweet flavours with a meal. Choose what fits your routine — the likelihood of keeping the habit is the most important criterion.

With food or on an empty stomach?

Here there is more substance. Fat-soluble vitamins — A, D, E and K — are absorbed more efficiently when there is some fat in the meal. In the case of TuttiBear gummies, the Hair & Nails Gummies contain vitamins A, D and E (fat-soluble), so taking them with a meal that includes yoghurt, avocado, egg or a drizzle of olive oil is a sensible choice. Water-soluble vitamins, such as vitamin C and the B vitamins, are absorbed well with or without food.

An empty stomach also counts: some people feel nausea or stomach discomfort if they take supplements on an empty stomach. If that's you, take the gummies with a light meal. If you feel nothing, there's no reason to complicate things.

A practical note many people overlook: gummies contain sweeteners and, in some cases, sugars. Taking them at night after brushing your teeth leaves sweet residue in contact with the enamel for hours. If you prefer the evening, take them at least 30 minutes before brushing, or brush afterwards.

What else you're taking at the same time matters more than the time of day

If you take other supplements or medicines, interactions can weigh more than the timing. Calcium and iron, for example, compete for absorption in the intestine; separating the doses by a few hours is a reasonable precaution if you take supplements containing them. Coffee and tea can also reduce the absorption of minerals such as iron and zinc — if you take the gummies first thing with coffee, it may be worth waiting 30 minutes.

If you take prescription medicines, especially for thyroid, diabetes or anticoagulants, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before starting any supplement. Some medicines have narrow absorption windows and a supplement can interfere.

What the studies say about collagen and hyaluronic acid

Studies on beauty supplements did not test timings — they tested daily doses over weeks. That is the information that exists, and it is useful for calibrating expectations.

For collagen, a meta-analysis of 19 randomised controlled trials, with 1,125 participants (95% women, aged 20 to 70), showed favourable results from hydrolysed collagen supplementation in parameters such as skin hydration, elasticity and wrinkles 1. A more recent meta-analysis, with 10 trials and 646 participants, found statistically significant improvements in skin hydration and elasticity, with the most common dose in the studies being 4 g per day (median 3.5 g/day) 2. A randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial with 77 healthy women used 5,000 mg per day of collagen peptides for 12 weeks and observed improvements in dermal density, hydration and transepidermal water loss compared with placebo, maintained after a 4-week period without supplementation 3.

On absorption, a crossover trial with 10 healthy men showed that the characteristic collagen amino acids (glycine, proline and hydroxyproline) increase in plasma over 240 minutes after ingestion, and that prior enzymatic hydrolysis increases the speed of absorption 4. This helps explain why the hydrolysed form is the most studied — but it says nothing about the best time of day.

As for oral hyaluronic acid, a meta-analysis of 7 randomised controlled trials found statistically significant improvements in hydration, elasticity and wrinkle depth, although the effects on firmness and transepidermal water loss were not statistically significant 5.

What the TuttiBear gummies label says

It is worth looking at what is actually on the label, because the doses used in studies are almost always higher than those of a gummy supplement.

ProductDose per serving (2 gummies)Stated directions
Collagen Gummies1,000 mg hydrolysed collagen, 24 mg vitamin C, 15 µg biotin, 18 µg seleniumTake 2 gummies per day or as directed by a healthcare professional
Gummies for Skin Hydration and Firmness130 mg hyaluronic acid, 50 mg vitamin C, 16 mg niacin (vitamin B3)Adults: chew 2 gummies per day, preferably after a meal
Hair & Nails Gummies5,000 µg biotin, 630 µg vitamin A, 20 µg vitamin D, among othersAdults: chew 2 gummies per day, preferably after a meal

Notice the difference: the collagen trials typically used 2.5 g to 10 g per day 6, and the Collagen Gummies provide 1,000 mg per 2-gummy serving. This does not mean the product is useless — it means that study doses are not dosing instructions and that the label is what you should follow. The same reasoning applies to hyaluronic acid: the meta-analysis of 7 trials assessed oral supplementation in general, not this specific dose 5.

As for the vitamins and minerals present, it can be said, on the basis of authorised EU health claims, that vitamin C contributes to the normal function of the immune system and to normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin, and that zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal hair and nails 7. These are the permitted wordings — nothing more.

Consistency: the factor that really decides

None of the trials cited tested the time of the dose. They tested weeks of daily supplementation. That is the pattern that repeats: 12 weeks in a trial with 77 women 3, 8 to 24 weeks in the reviewed studies on skin 6. The practical message is clear: an occasional dose, even at the perfect time, does not produce the effect that a daily dose over months produces.

If you miss a day, carry on the next day at your usual time. Don't take double to make up for it — that doesn't speed anything up and can cause gastrointestinal discomfort. If you take two doses close together by mistake, drink water and return to your normal routine the next day. If you have unusual symptoms, talk to a healthcare professional.

How to turn the dose into an automatic habit

The most effective way to ensure consistency is to anchor the dose to something you already do every day. A few ideas that work:

  • Keep the jar next to the kettle, the coffee machine or wherever you have breakfast.
  • Link the dose to brushing your teeth — but if it's in the evening, brush after taking them.
  • Use a weekly organiser, even for gummies: you can see at a glance whether you've taken today's dose.
  • Take the gummies in your bag when you travel, even for short weekends.
  • Store the jar in a cool, dry place, away from the stove and from the car on hot days — gummies melt and become sticky.

If you have children at home, keep the jar out of their reach. Adult gummies are not suitable for children, and there is a specific formulation for children from the age of 2, with its own dose and warnings.

Does the gummy format change anything?

Gummies have practical advantages: they don't need water, can be taken anywhere and the pleasant taste makes daily adherence easier — which, as we've seen, is the decisive factor. They also have limitations you should know about.

First, they contain polyols (maltitol), and excessive consumption can have a laxative effect; do not exceed the stated dose. Second, biotin at high doses can interfere with laboratory test results — if you are having tests, tell your doctor and the laboratory that you take the supplement. Third, gummies should be chewed well before swallowing; swallowing them whole is not the correct way to take them.

No studies have been identified that directly compare gummies with tablets for these ingredients. What is known is that the hydrolysed form of collagen is well absorbed 4 and that oral biotin is absorbed almost completely even at pharmacological doses, in a crossover trial with 6 healthy adults 8. The choice between formats is therefore mainly a question of convenience and adherence — not of demonstrated superiority.

How long before you notice a difference?

More than the time of day, this is where many people give up too early. In the trials, effects on the skin were assessed at 8 and 12 weeks 3, and reviews on skin mention 8 to 24 weeks of supplementation 6. For hair and nails, the growth cycle is slower and visible changes typically take longer.

Results vary from person to person: genetics, age, diet and general health influence everything. If you have a balanced diet, you may not notice a dramatic difference; if you have deficiencies, the difference may be more visible. If after 3 to 6 months of consistent use you notice nothing, it is worth talking to a healthcare professional to find out whether there is another underlying cause.

Who should talk to a healthcare professional first

For most people, deciding the time of the gummies is trivial. But there are situations where the conversation should come first: pregnancy, breastfeeding, chronic disease (kidney, liver, diabetes), taking medicines or uncertainty about interactions. In these cases, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before starting any supplement — they can tell you whether there are contraindications and whether the timing is relevant in your case.

And remember the essentials: food supplements are not a substitute for a varied and balanced diet or a healthy lifestyle. Beauty gummies are a complement, not a stand-alone solution.

In summary

Choose a realistic time — morning with breakfast or evening before bed — and keep to it. Take them with food if you have a sensitive stomach or if the gummies contain fat-soluble vitamins. Separate them from other supplements containing minerals and from coffee or tea. Chew well, keep the jar in a cool, visible place, and don't worry if you miss a day. Set a date three months from now and then assess whether it is worth continuing: consistency is the only factor truly under your control.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best time of day to take beauty gummies?

There is no proven best time. Studies on collagen and hyaluronic acid assessed daily doses over weeks, not specific timings. Choose the moment you can keep to every day — morning with breakfast or evening before bed work equally well.

Should I take beauty gummies with food or on an empty stomach?

If the gummies contain fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K), taking them with a meal that includes some fat improves absorption. In the case of TuttiBear gummies, the Hair & Nails Gummies contain vitamins A, D and E. If you have a sensitive stomach, taking them with a light meal avoids discomfort. Water-soluble vitamins, such as vitamin C and the B vitamins, are absorbed well either way.

Can I take beauty gummies at night after brushing my teeth?

It's not ideal. Gummies contain sweeteners and, in some cases, sugars, which stay in contact with your teeth for hours. If you prefer the evening, take them at least 30 minutes before brushing, or brush after taking them.

How long does it take to see results from beauty gummies?

In the trials, effects on the skin were assessed at 8 and 12 weeks, and reviews mention 8 to 24 weeks of supplementation. For hair and nails, the growth cycle is slower and visible changes typically take longer. If after 3 to 6 months you notice nothing, talk to a healthcare professional.

What happens if I miss a day or take two doses?

Missing a day is not a problem: carry on the next day at your usual time, without taking double to make up for it. If you take two doses close together by mistake, drink water and return to your normal routine the next day. If you have unusual symptoms, talk to a healthcare professional.

Can beauty gummies interfere with medicines or blood tests?

Yes, in some cases. Minerals such as calcium and iron compete for absorption, and biotin at high doses can interfere with laboratory test results — tell your doctor and the laboratory that you take the supplement. If you take prescription medicines, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before starting.
